With a condenser capacity of 3.5 kg/24 h and adjustable tray configuration, it offers reliable performance in a compact footprint. LIO 40 freeze dryer comes standard with a 4-tray configuration, featuring optimized 58 mm spacing between trays—ideal for larger or bulkier products that require more vertical room. The shelf with a bigger tray distance is easier to clean.

For higher-capacity needs, the system can be upgraded to a 6-tray configuration. This option includes a redesigned shelf with 37 mm spacing, allowing you to increase batch volume and maximize throughput without compromising performance.

Heavy-Duty Levelling Wheels
The standard dryer is equipped with levelling feet, which allow stable installation on uneven floors. Proper levelling ensures complete drainage of water after defrost and is especially important when freezing liquids inside the dryer.
Heavy-duty levelling wheels combine stability with mobility. They allow easy movement of the dryer when needed—simply unlock the wheels and reposition the unit.

 

Oil Pump Protection
Extends the service life of the vacuum pump oil without affecting drying performance.
During the drying process, small amounts of water vapor may enter the vacuum pump. This system helps remove moisture from the oil, reducing contamination and extending maintenance intervals.

 

Stainless Steel Housing
Ideal for humid or demanding environments where corrosion resistance is important.
Compared to painted steel, stainless steel has a smoother surface, making cleaning easier and improving hygiene—especially important for professional or food-related applications.

 

Pressure Control Function
Monitors pressure inside the chamber and detects even small vacuum leaks. The system alerts the operator to potential sealing issues.
It also improves drying of sensitive products (such as those containing aromas). Too low pressure can cause loss of volatile compounds, while controlled pressure helps preserve product quality.

 

Shelves with Different Tray Spacing
The standard configuration provides approx. 58 mm spacing between trays, suitable for most products and easy cleaning.
Reduced spacing (approx. 37 mm) increases total drying capacity by up to 50%. Shelves with smaller tray distance are suitable for smaller products (that are cut to slices f.e.).

 

Additional Trays
Each dryer is supplied with a set of trays that corresponds to the number of shelves in the shelf rack.
An additional set allows you to prepare and pre-freeze the next batch while the current batch is drying, reducing overall cycle time and increasing productivity.

 

Fast Defrost
The fast defrost option reduces this time by up to 50%, helping to shorten total process time.
Standard defrost usually takes approximately 2–3 hours, depending on the amount of ice traped inseide the chamber.

 

Automatic Drain Control
Prevents operator errors by automatically controlling the drain valve.
The valve opens only when needed and ensures it is closed before the drying cycle starts.

 

Pressure Build-Up Protection (Anti-Backflow System)
Protects the dried product from condensate contamination.
After defrosting the freeze dryer, melted ice is safely discharged. The system prevents condensate from being sucked back into the drying chamber due to vacuum, which could otherwise damage the dried product.
